Legendary female team make shock return as fans beg them to ‘let pigeons loose’

Impact Wrestling celebrated it's 1000 episode this week, and an iconic female tag team returned for the first time in 13 years to leave the fans wanting more.

For many, the duo of Velvet Sky and Angela Love defined female tag team wrestling in mid to late 2000s.

The pair joined forces in then-TNA wrestling in 2007 on an episode of Impact.

For the next four years, they terrorised the woman of now-Impact Wrestling by putting paper bags over their faces or spraying them with hairspray.

The pair were joined by Billy Gun, Madison Rayne and Lacey Von Erich at various points over the years, and amassed eight championship reigns in either tag team or single competition between them.

But they disbanded in 2010, and went their separate ways.

Velvet Sky, whose real name is Jamie Szantyr, largely retired from in-ring competition, and became a commentator with the National Wrestling Alliance, while Angelina continued to wrestle almost full time across various promotions.

Love, 42, made appearances for House of Hardcore and Ring of Honor, but joined the same company as Velvet, the NWA in 2022.

However, the pair have finally reunited for real, after appearing at Impact's 1000th episode special.

And it got fans remembering the iconic line that former commentator Tazz would shout when the pair stood ringside, bent over with the camera pointing at their rear.

He would shout “Let the pigeons loose!”.

With Tazz no longer being there, as he now commentates for All Elite Wrestling, they were left reminiscing about it.

One wrote, on X/Twitter: “The beautiful people are back in the impact zone!!

“Get the cameras ready because they're letting the pigeons loose!!”

And a second commented: “Finally the Impact Zone is once again beautiful!

“Now let those pigeons loose!”

And a third posted: “Everyone talks about ratings constantly these days.

“The Beautiful People were almost always the highest rated segment every week for TNA/Impact”

One half of the duo, Angelina Love, is set to return to the ring to represent the pair next week as part of a multi-women tag team match featuring ex-WWE star Mickie James and Impact legends Awesome Kong and Gail Kim when part two of Impact's 1000 episode celebrations continues.
