Large parts of the UK set to be hit by a deluge of rain have been put on high alert for flooding. Somerset is already experiencing some surface water, with other parts of the south west has been issued with warnings.<\/p>\n
The Environment Agency has so far put out 38 warnings for floods today (Monday, December 4), with fears local roads could be left underwater. The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for rain, expected to last until 6pm today.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson said for the Environment Agency said: “There are flood alerts and flood warnings in force across the south west. You can check for flooding where you live\/work by visiting our online flooding information page.”<\/p>\n
As well as Somerset, parts of Dorset, the Midlands and south east are also affected.<\/p>\n

One local in the south west posted two videos to X, formerly Twitter, showing floodwater along the road.<\/p>\n
There are three Met Office alerts in place for today.<\/p>\n
The south west, covering Worcester down to Portsmouth and Plymouth, has been issued a yellow alert for rain running from midnight until 6pm.<\/p>\n
Heavy rain is also due to hit the north east, with an alert spanning from York up to Newcastle and into Scotland. This was put in place from 12pm and will run until 9am tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Finally, Scotland has been hit with a huge ice warning as temperatures are expected to plummet further. This will be in place from 3pm until 11am tomorrow.<\/p>\n
