{"id":39515,"date":"2023-11-20T15:19:16","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T15:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/miamiheatnation.com\/?p=39515"},"modified":"2023-11-20T15:19:16","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T15:19:16","slug":"ukrainian-sniper-claims-new-world-record-with-2-36-mile-kill-of-russian-soldier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/miamiheatnation.com\/world-news\/ukrainian-sniper-claims-new-world-record-with-2-36-mile-kill-of-russian-soldier\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukrainian sniper claims new world record with 2.36 mile kill of Russian soldier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/78\/590x\/secondary\/soldiers-5075726.jpg?r=1700492932389\"><\/p>\n<p>A Ukrainian soldier has laid claim to the world record for the longest sniper kill in history after killing a Russian soldier 2.36 miles away.<\/p>\n<p>The insane shot was made using a custom rifle called &#8216;Lord of the Horizon&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The sniper&#8217;s accomplishment comes amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, with tensions escalating on the front lines.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the unnamed member of Ukraine&#8217;s security service SBU achieved the remarkable feat, surpassing the previous record of 2.2 miles by a Canadian special operations sniper in Iraq in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>A video of the kill shows a line of three Russian soldiers becoming a line of two after one is hit by the shot.<\/p>\n<p>The SBU said: &#8220;[Our] snipers are rewriting the rules of global sniping, showcasing unparalleled abilities to operate effectively at remarkable distances.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s snipers are often at the forefront of counteroffensive manoeuvres taking out high-value Russian targets before other forces arrive.<\/p>\n<p>The Ukrainian military gave no other details, such as when or where it was filmed, nor did it say how it had confirmed the sniper&#8217;s effort.<\/p>\n<p>The custom &#8216;Lord of the Horizon&#8217; gun was developed and made by MAYAK, a Ukrainian arms manufacturer, and is a staggering 6ft long.
