Infamous gold wallpaper in No. 10 never existed<\/h3>\n<p>Speaking to a source nicknamed &#8220;Moneypenny&#8221;, Ms Dorries claims that the infamous Downing Street redecoration row, replete with claims of \u201cgold wallpaper\u201d, never actually existed.<\/p>\n<p>Moneypenny claims the shadowy group of anti-Boris figures, including Dominic Cummings and Michael Gove, plotted to discredit Mr Johnson with untrue claims.<\/p>\n<p>Moneypenny says: \u201cThere was no gold wallpaper. It never existed. It wasn&#8217;t quoted for; it was never hung. Does such a thing even exist? What Boris and Carrie did was have the dining room wall painted red to celebrate the red-wall victories in the Election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Dorries claims Wallpapergate was \u201clikely\u201d created by Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/139\/590x\/secondary\/Nadine-Dorries-book-the-plot-5051750.jpg?r=1699279164235\"><\/p>\n<h3>4. Boris claims his \u2018Partygate\u2019 fine was like a witch trial<\/h3>\n<p>Mr Johnson told Ms Dorries that the Met Police fine he received for receiving an unboxed birthday cake in his office was \u201cutterly mad\u201d. The former PM compared the Partygate episode to akin to the Salem witch trials.<\/p>\n<p>Challenged why he called for the inquiry into parties, Mr Johnson replied: \u201cI literally asked for a report because I didn&#8217;t know what had happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was utterly mad. It was kind of like Salem. The idea of an illicit party. Absolute nonsense. There were people working around the clock to save others from a virus. My efforts were totally fixed on getting us a vaccine; that was the way out of this mess.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nothing I attended in the way of thanking people, to keep morale up in the office with those I was sitting down with and working with all day long, went on for longer than was strictly necessary. Of course, the notion of Partygate was a fantastic piece of media. BBC and Sky, they ran with it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>5. Hancock CCTV camera had been \u2018tampered with\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Ms Dorries claims that the CCTV camera that captured Matt Hancock locking lips with his Department for Health advisor had been &#8220;tampered with&#8221; so it no longer faced the balcony.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Dorries\u2019s Department for Culture Media and Sport was \u201cdirectly opposite\u201d Mr Hancock\u2019s Department for Health, and following the scandal she checked her own camera.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cWe now know the security camera in Matt\u2019s office that filmed him had been tampered with. My office in the Department of Health was directly opposite his and I had a camera on my ceiling, too. Both cameras faced outwards, looking towards the balconies considered to be a security weak spot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe day after the story broke, I checked the camera in my office; it was still directly facing the balcony. Someone had rotated Matt\u2019s inwards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn inquiry found that the camera had been turned to face the door because it gave access to the roof. Only the door it was facing didn\u2019t have access to the roof: that was on the wall opposite to the one the camera was facing.
