A dog walker has shared footage of wild Storm Babet winds appearing to lift the floor of a forest into the air.

It proved a nice perch for man's best friend to sit atop, but highlighted one of many wild weather incidents from across the weekend after the Met Office was forced to issue amber and red weather warnings.

The storm (the second of the year to be named following Storm Agnes) shocked David Nugent-Malone and pet pooch Jake in Stirlingshire, Scotland, as it lifted trees into the air. In footage shared by David, Jake was seen wandering near to the edge of the patch of land where it appeared to split from the floor.

Speaking to the BBC, David said: "We've walked through that particular section literally hundreds of times before and have never seen anything like that." He added it was relatively calm even after the strongest of Storm Babet winds blasted the area.

Posting the footage to X, David said the "earth was breathing deeply this morning".

It comes after another dog was filmed in Storm Babet chaos, rescuing sheep from their isolated perch in a flooded field.

Farmer Llyr Derewydd told of how sheepdog Patsy waded through the flooded field to rescue his livestock. A routine check of the fields had revealed that the trio of ewes were stuck.

Mr Derewydd said: "We thought we'd better go check, make sure all the sheep are safe, and that's when we saw the three ewes stranded on this little spot on the field. It was quite dangerous because I didn't know how deep it was.

"She's a strong swimmer and she was able to swim across. I knew she was quite a good swimmer otherwise I wouldn't have done that, but I was quite surprised that she didn't have any issues, she just went."
