    A 53-year-old man has been arrested following horrific CCTV footage of a 'bull mastiff-type' dog savagely attacking a bloke on the street. <\/p>\n

    The video, which was captured on Handsworth Road, Sheffield, shows a man holding his small black dog aloft as a larger animal attacks his arm and legs. The clip, which was posted by Sheffield Online, captured the man attempting to fend off the animal before it drags him into the road.<\/p>\n

    A quick-thinking passing motorist then appears to ram the attacking dog allowing the man to break free with his own pet and make an escape. The man suffered injuries to his arm and chest, Examiner Live reports.<\/p>\n

    Officers were called to the scene where the man man had been bitten by a dog. The out of control canine was later contained and captured by armed officers. A 53-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog out of control and remains in custody as appeals for information continue.<\/p>\n

    A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "Officers investigating an incident where a dog bit a man in a Sheffield street have made an arrest. At about 5.40pm yesterday (Tuesday, September 19) we were called by a member of the public to report another member of the public had been bitten by a dog on Handsworth Road.<\/p>\n

    "The man received serious injuries to his arm and chest but these are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening. Officers trapped the dog \u2013 a bull mastiff-type dog \u2013 in a contained area and were eventually able to seize it and safely remove it from the location.<\/p>\n

    "A 53-year-old man from Sheffield has now been arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog out of control and remains in police custody at this time as enquiries continue. We are still looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has CCTV or car dash cam footage which may have captured the incident can pass information to us via our online live chat, our online portal or by calling 101."<\/p>\n
