Prince Harry was only allowed to visit Queen Elizabeth's grave on the anniversary of her death on one condition.

The Duke of Sussex was in the UK on Friday (September 8), which also marked a year since his grandmother died, after attending the WellChild awards in London the night before.

During the flying visit to Britain Harry was spotted making an emotional exit from St George's Chapel in Windsor where the Queen was laid to rest last September after passing away aged 96.

Harry had reportedly wanted to visit Her Majesty's grave when he realised he would be in the UK on the anniversary of her death, but reportedly didn't think he would get permission to visit, reports The Telegraph.

But the Duke was reportedly allowed to pay his respects at the last minute on the condition his visit was kept private.

Harry also paid tribute to his deceased grandmother as he spoke at the WellChild awards, declaring: "As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away.

"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her, and that's precisely why I know exactly one year on that she is looking down on all of us tonight."
