Polar bear mauls man to death before giant animal’s body found in car park

A polar bear has mauled a man to death at a campsite in a shocking attack.

The victim was set upon during the night in a camping area near the town Longyearbyen in Norway, approximately 1,300 kilometres (800 miles) from the North Pole.

He was seriously wounded and died soon afterwards.

Others opened fire on the bear, later found dead in the local airport car park.
