PHOTOS: City Park Jazz 2021 kicks off with The Burroughs — The Know
June 14, 2021
And just like that, Denver suddenly felt a lot more like Denver.
On Sunday afternoon, City Park jazz returned to the pavilion at Denver’s City Park, bringing thousands of music fans outside for live entertainment from local bands. The free annual summer concert series was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, but the event is back just as coronavirus-related restrictions and capacity limits have largely ended in the city of Denver. Up to 13,000 people attended these weekly shows before the pandemic.

The Burroughs played Sunday afternoon, kicking off a series of nine concerts that will feature everything from New Orleans-style brass bands to big bands and the blues. You don’t need tickets to attend this one — just pack a picnic and find a spot in the grass. Organizers warn that construction in the area will make traffic and parking a headache, but the event has a bicycle parking area that will be manned by employees during the show.
