‘Murderous monster’ killed wife by spiking her cereal with heroin
December 13, 2021
A husband who murdered his wife by putting a lethal dose of heroin into her milk and cereal has been jailed for life.
Jason Harris, 47, from Flint, Michigan, was sentenced to life without parole for the murder of his wife Christina Harris-Thompson, 36.
The judge presiding over the case described Harris as a "selfish, murderous, lying, monster".
Harris-Thompson had given birth to the couple’s child just four months before her death.
Harris was convicted of the 2014 murder of his wife in November. Genesee Circuit Court Judge David Newblatt handed down the sentence on 10 December.
"I agree completely with their verdict," Judge Newblatt told Harris, MLive reported.
"You are guilty. You did this. You are a murderer. You are a liar. I want to make that very clear. The jury saw through your lies and I see through your lies."
The victim's body was found by a neighbour in September 2014 at her home near Flint, Michigan.
Harris’s brother went to the police after his wife’s death, telling the authorities that his brother was having an affair and that he suspected he had killed his wife.
He is reported to have flown to Rhode Island nine days after Christina's death to visit a woman he'd been texting.
Two months after his wife's death, he allegedly moved another woman into his home.

Originally the cause of death was put down as an overdose by the Genesee County medical examiner, but friends and family always insisted she wasn't a drug user.
One neighbour told police that Harris said his wife was hungry on the night of her death.
When he gave her a bowl of cereal, he said she dropped it while eating before passing out on the living room floor.
Harris also to offered two different men $5,000 (£4,074) to kill his wife.
County prosecutor David Leyton said in 2019: "We believe Jason Harris murdered his wife.
"We believe he put heroin into her cereal and milk the night that she died after getting it from someone, thinking it would be tasteless and odourless much like he had asked his coworkers multiple times."
