Melania Trump’s ‘really handsome’ dad has ‘physical resemblance’ to Donald

Donald Trump has been likened to wife Melania's dad in a recent book, which claims the former First Lady's old man "never had a problem with women" because of his "handsome" looks.

Melania was raised in Sevnica, which is now in Slovenia but was then part of Yugoslavia, by her Communist party member father Viktor Knavs.

Her dad managed car dealerships for a state-owned vehicle manufacturer, and her mother Amalija Ulnik, a pattern maker at a textile factory.

After moving to the US, Melania's parents became US citizens at a ceremony in New York in August 2018.

And now in a recent book, Donald has been likened to his wife's dad Viktor, 77, whose friends in Slovenia described him as "a really handsome guy who always dressed nice".

In The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump, author and Pulitzer Prize–winning Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan travelled to their former town in Slovenia to find out about the former First Lady's upbringing.

She found a former friend of Viktor's and interviewed him for the book, which quotes them as saying: "He was a really handsome guy and he always dressed nice; if you met him thirty years ago, you'd fall in love with him for yourself."

The book adds: "Of his appeal, the friend added, 'He never had a problem with women.'

"Many in Slovenia and the United States have compared Viktor to his son-in-law.

"They are less than five years apart in age and bear a physical resemblance to each other."

After Melania's parents arrived in Washington DC in 2017 to visit their family, New York Magazine's "The Cut" called out the supposed similarities in appearance with an article titled "Hmmm, Melania’s Dad Sure Looks Familiar."

Meanwhile, Melania and Donald met in 1998 at a party thrown by Zampolli at the Kit Kat Club in Manhattan.

Donald was there with Norwegian cosmetics heiress Celina Midelfart but made a beeline for Melania and asked for her number.

But, because he had a date, she refused to give it to him – and instead asked the billionaire for his.

After dating, Donald proposed at the glitzy Costume Institute Gala in New York and they married in January 2005 at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida.

Melania has previously said she has "a great relationship" with Donald, who is 24 years her senior.

He has insisted that they never argue.

Such was the intensity of the divorce speculation last year, one of Melania's pals spoke out and blasted the suggestion as "pathetic".
