Two weeks ago, Mr Trump and his wife both tested positive for the deadly virus.

The President was rushed to Walter Reed Medical Center hospital for treatment and is now receiving dexamethasone, a steroid which can be used to help treat severe COVID-19 infections.

While Mr Trump seemingly suffered worse symptoms, his wife’s diagnosis came back with “minimal symptoms”.

But Melania was unable to relax as her mind went “immediately to our son”.

After the 14-year-old Barron tested negative for the virus, but the just days later he received a positive test result.

In a column on the White House website, she wrote: “My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive.

“Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms. In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together.

“He has since tested negative.”

The First Lady explained how she experienced “body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time”.

She added recovering from the illness gave her time to “reflect”.

Mrs Trump said: “Recovering from an illness gives you a lot of time to reflect.

“When my husband was taken to Walter Reed as a precaution, I spent much of my time reflecting on my family.

”I also thought about the hundreds of thousands of people across our country who have been impacted by this illness that infects people with no discrimination.

”We are in unprecedented times—and with the election fast approaching, it has been easy to get caught up in so much negative energy.”

Mr Trump returned to the White House after spending just three days in hospital after announcing he had tested positive for coronavirus

The president’s return to the White House comes amid a spate of positive coronavirus infections amongst senior staff.

Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany confirmed she had tested positive for the virus.

CBS news has claims one of her aides has also caught the virus too.

Ms KcEnany said at the time: “As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provided needed information to the American people at this time.

“With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American people remotely.”

The US has the highest number of infections in the world surpassing 8,000,000 with the death toll reaching a staggering 221,184.

Mr Trump has been widely criticised for his handling of the deadly pandemic claiming the reason for the increased number of cases was because of their testing capacity.

He also somehow blamed the outbreak of the virus on the Obama Administration multiple times.

This is a breaking story. More to follow…
