Man in Deliveroo uniform fights ‘rival driver’ in city centre after crash

Bizarre footage has captured what appear to be rival delivery drivers fighting following a crash in a city centre.

The footage was filmed by a driver who witnessed the motorcycle crash in the middle of Newcastle upon Tyne on Monday (August 24).

In the video, a motorist in a Deliveroo outfit and another man can be seen clashing in the middle of a street.

Chronicle Live report the second man was a delivery driver for a rival firm.

The motorcyclist in the blue jacket tries to throw his rival onto the ground before the other driver appears to throw a punch in his direction.

Onlookers can be heard beeping their horns while a man behind the camera tells them to “stop it” as traffic begins to pile up.

The duo’s scooters can be seen discarded on the road as they continue to scrap.

The motorist appearing to be in the Deliveroo uniform – who is also wearing a helmet – then seems to throw another punch before the video comes to an end.

Police were called to the scene to reports of a minor road traffic collision in the city centre.

Officers confirmed no arrests have been made in relation to the incident but said inquiries were ongoing.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "At about 6.50pm on Monday police received a report of a collision between two motorcycles on the junction of Newgate Street and Percy Street in Newcastle city centre.

"Nobody was seriously injured and traffic was not affected in the area.

"Officers are aware of footage being circulated on social media that shows the two drivers of the motorcycles involved having an altercation following the collision.

"Nobody has been arrested but enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
