Man in 20s murdered in knife fight as cops link brutal attack to overturned car

A murder investigation is under way this evening after police in London linked a deadly knife fight in Lambeth to the discovery of an overturned car nearby.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed officers were called at 5.55pm to reports of a fight ongoing around Overton Road in Lambeth, south west London.

The air ambulance was called to the scene after coppers and London Ambulance Service paramedics discovered two men with stab wounds.

One man, found in Overton Road, was taken to hospital and remains there tonight with non life-threatening injuries.

But the other, who was found in Wynne Road, died in hospital at 8.53pm.

Enquiries are underway to locate and inform his next of kin.

An overturned car was found in nearby Marcella Road and is being linked to this incident.

Crime scenes remain in place.

There have been no arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A section 60 has been put in place covering the postcode areas of SW9, SW4, SW8, SE11 and SE5 – this expires at 09:00hrs on Friday, 21 August.
