A man beat his wife to death in the street with a brick as members of the public looked on.
The horrifying attack took place in the northern Chinese city of Shuozhou on October 31.
The couple were riding a small electric car when they collided with another vehicle.
Eyewitnesses claim the man tried to flee, but his wife held him back.
During an ensuing argument, the man threw her to the ground and started beating her, What’s on Weibo reports.
Shocking footage of the attack was shared on the Chinese social media site Weibo.
The woman was beaten with a chair and a brick, and stabbed in the body and face with a pitchfork.
Several bystanders witnessed the assault but did not intervene.
Local police afterwards confirmed the man had been detained in a statement.
Last month, a woman pushed her friend into a reservoir before both of them drowned in a disturbing incident captured on CCTV – with the footage again going viral on Weibo.
It showed two women standing near the edge of the water in the city of Nanjing, China, when one wearing an orange jumper bends down to tie her shoelace.
As she does so, the other woman appears to shove her into the water.
The woman in orange can be seen struggling as the other in black holds her down.
Police confirmed that the pair drowned in the bizarre incident in the eastern Chinese state of Jiangsu, Yahoo News reports.
Photos appeared online of authorities retrieving the women's bodies with police divers in operation.
Reports claim the woman who pushed her friend to her death had been suffering from depression and had been prescribed medication.
The two women are said to have been former colleagues.
A police investigation was afterwards launched.
