A landlord in the US has been charged with second-degree murder after he leapt into a furious rage and stabbed his tenant over 30 times.
Gordon McBeth, from Kansas City, Missouri, is accused of killing Darryl Gilland Junior, 28, after he and his fiancé Samantha Pohlman, 23, complained the house was cold.
The couple requested a space heater and McBeth reportedly agreed but on his arrival to the property, McBeth became aggressive and stabbed Gilland.
Neighbours are reported to have rushed to the house after they heard screaming as Pohlman ran for help.
One of the neighbours pulled McBeth off of Gilland and another pointed a gun at the landlord until police were able to take over the situation.
Gilland died in Pohlman’s arms while they waited for the ambulance to arrive..
Speaking to Fox4, Pohlman said: “I held his head and I told him ‘it was going to be okay’ and that the ambulance was coming. And that I loved him.”
McBeth had already agreed to the heater over text message but when he arrived, he brought over insulation.
According to Pohlman, the landlord started throwing the insulation around before shouting at Gilland “if that’s not good enough, I’ll kill you.”
McBeth then pulled a knife and started his attack.
The couple had only moved into the home a week prior after they negotiated lower rent for helping with work on the house.
Gilland’s family have spoken out by saying their son’s death came over “nothing”.

His father Darryl Gilland Senior told KSHB 41: “hear people talking about losing their children, but over 30 times (stabbed), my son bled to death.”
Gilland's family have set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of transporting his body back to his hometown in Indiana with funds also going to help Pohlman.
McBeth is next due in court on November 2.
