England cricket’s glam WAGs from pop star to childhood sweetheart
March 5, 2021
The WAGs of the England cricket team are the biggest fans of their boyfriends and husbands as they support their men across the globe.
These glamorous women are cheering their boys on to success in India, where they are currently playing the final test of a four-test series.
It is not easy being the partner of a top-level cricketer, with their other halves spending much of their time playing cricket abroad on foreign tours.
They have to fit weddings, honeymoons and other family events around tours and matches but they have their own careers behind the scenes, from a Pilates instructor to a famous pop star.
Carrie is the wife of captain and star player Joe Root. The pair met while she was working at a bar in Headingley, where her husband played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
They married in a stunning ceremony in Sheffield in December 2018, with Joe's teammate Stuart Broad among those in attendance.
The couple enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in Barbados and have since shared snaps in the Caribbean, Paris, New York and Dubai.
They became parents for the first time in January 2017 when their son Alfie was born, and in July last year they welcomed a daughter.
Sports stars and pop sensations are often seen together, and Stuart Broad and Mollie King are one of cricket's poster couples.
The couple were officially announced as a couple in March 2018, but split up months later due to their "packed schedules".
But they soon decided to give their romance another go soon after and have since gone from strength to strength.
Broad popped the question last New Year's, with Mollie announcing online: "A thousand times yes!
"I still can’t believe it, the most magical start to the new year! I can’t wait to spend all my years with you @stuartbroad."

Clare is the childhood sweetheart of Ben Stokes, one of the stars of English cricket.
The couple married in 2017 having been together since their teens.
Among the celebrity guests at their nuptials were Ben's teammates Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales and Paul Collingwood, while England captain Joe Root was also there to lend his support.
The cricketing WAG is a primary school teacher and mum-of-two who describes herself as "cricket widow and PA to Ben Stokes".

The couple have two kids together, son Layton and daughter Libby.
Ben himself admitted that meeting Clare and having their kids forced him to grow up fast.
He said: "Commitment was the hardest thing to get my head around.
"Me and Clare have got a very good relationship where she knows that as important as the kids and her are, my friends are very important to me as well.
"She knows whenever I'm away for a long period of time, I'm desperate to see them also."

England batsman Jos Buttler is not the only sporting fanatic in the family.
His wife Louise is a Pilates instructor, and she keeps busy while her husband is away by running her own business LP Pilates in Clapham, south London.
The couple tied the knot in October 2017 in a romantic ceremony in Somerset before going on their honeymoon to Positano in Italy. They had their first child, Georgia Rose, in April 2019.

Fast bowling legend James Anderson met his model wife Daniella in a London nightclub while on England duty in 2004.
Daniella said it was "love at first sight" and she effectively gave up her modelling career to move north with him.
The pair wed in Manchester in 2006 and welcomed their first child, Lola Rose, in January 2009 before he headed off to the West Indies with England.
They had their second daughter, Ruby, the following year.
The couple went through the heartbreaking loss of their son at 13 weeks when Daniella had a miscarriage.
Anderson was at a Test match when he heard and immediately flew home from India to be by his wife's side. Daniella said her husband was "absolutely devastated" in an interview with the Daily Star in 2018.
She added: "We talked a lot. He is a really sensitive soul and he was really upset."
