Emergency declared on British Airways flight over France

A flight emergency has hit a plane over France as it flew from London Heathrow to Abuja.

Data from Flight Radar 24 showed the aircraft about-face and head back to Britain over northern France.

It had been in the air for about 42 minutes before it began returning to base.

It is not yet clear why the emergency was declared en route to the Nigerian capital.

The plane was about five hours from its destination when it turned around.
