Elon Musk brags he’ll ‘pay more tax than any American in history’ in 2021

The world's richest man Elon Musk has bragged that he will “pay more taxes than any American in history” this year.

The SpaceX and Tesla founder made the statement in response to his spat with US Senator Elizabeth Warren.

The senator questioned how much tax Musk pays following the billionaire being crowned Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2021.

Ms Warren tweeted: “Let’s change the rigged tax code so The Person of the Year will actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else.”

Musk responded: “And if you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year.”

Just minutes later, the billionaire continued with his tirade, writing: “Don’t spend it all at once … oh wait you did already.”

His response to Ms Warren was met with hundreds asking Musk just how much tax he pays but the tech entrepreneur is yet to respond.

Before her public response from Musk, Ms Warren quote retweeted a post from an account called Americans For Tax Fairness.

The post from Americans For Tax Fairness showed their mock up of Musk’s Time magazine cover for their Person of the Year cover.

The mock up features the name of the magazine changed to “Tax Me” with lines on the cover such as “Musk paid “$0 tax in 2018” and “He got $240 billion (£180 billion) richer during the pandemic”.

Ms Warren wrote: “When someone makes it big in America – millionaire big, billionaire big, Person of the Year big – part of it has to include paying it forward so the next kid can get a chance, too.”
