Dad who killed baby daughter and stabbed wife blames mother-in-law ‘stress’

A husband who killed his baby daughter and stabbed his wife and other child blamed the abominable act on "stress" caused by his mother-in-law's visit to their home.

Israeli dad Barak Ben Ami, 35, murdered his 10-month-old daughter Goni after stabbing her in the neck and chest.

He then almost killed now ex-wife Liron Dror and their other daughter, who is three.

Ben Ami stabbed them both in the neck and chest, but they survived.

The traumatic incident in March 2020 saw Dror attempt to sprint out the house when he wielded the knife, but he stabbed her before she could leave.

It was reported the violence first erupted when his wife's mum left the house after visiting for religious festival Purim.

Ben Ami was charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder in April 2020, with his sentencing now complete.

He will serve a life sentence plus 20 years for the vicious crimes.

Prosecutors wrote: "The defendant’s violent, aggressive and brutal acts, during which he did not hesitate before attacking and stabbing his daughters and wife many times, all over an inane argument, demonstrate his danger to public safety."

He pleaded guilty to the murder of Goni at Lod District Court on Sunday (September 12).

The killer's ex-wife Liron Dror told reporters gathered outside she finally wanted justice after his cruel killings.

She said: "We have waited for this day for a year and a half.

"The morning of the murder we could not cry out, but this is the moment where we are crying out for help and asking for a harsh punishment for our murderer, who has not taken responsibility for his actions.

"This is not a father, this is a monster.

"I hope he will remain in jail for the rest of his life so that we will not need to live under a cloud of fear."
