Colorado Springs police officers shoot man allegedly wielding rifle

Four Colorado Springs police officers shot and wounded a man they say pointed a gun at them late Sunday night.

The officers responded about 10 p.m. to a home in the 3200 block of Oak Creek Drive East for a report of a domestic disturbance, according to a news release from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, which will investigate the shooting. The caller said the suspect was armed with a rifle.

Officers arrived and found the man outside. After speaking with him, the man  allegedly ran inside and grabbed a rifle, according to the news release. The man pointed the gun at the officers, four of whom opened fired, according to the release.

The man, who was not identified, was struck at least once and transported to a hospital with serious injuries. None of the officers were injured.

The officers were placed on administrative leave per department policy while the shooting is investigated.
