A "depraved" man who was convicted of the murder and sexual assault of his own sister has been jailed.
Connor Gibson, 21, was sentenced to life behind bars with a minimum of 22 years at the High Court in Livingston, Scotland, today (Monday, September 4) after he killed Amber Gibson, 16, on November 26, 2021.
A 13-day trial previously found Gibson guilty of the attack in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, which saw the man remove his sister's clothes, sexually assault her with the intention of raping her and inflict blunt force trauma to her head and body before strangling her.

During Gibson's trial at the High Court in Glasgow back in July, Judge Lord Mullholland told Gibson he faced a mandatory life sentence but the minimum term was decided today.
"Your sister โ the last person she saw was you strangling her," the judge said.
"It was depraved and you will pay a heavy price for that."
Amber was first reported missing on the evening of the attack.
Her body was discovered two days later at 10.10am in Cadzow Glen, Hamilton, with forensic experts determining she had died of compression to the neck.
Gibson was then arrested on December 1.
The day before he was taken into custody he posted a hair-raising tribute to his deceased sibling on Facebook, writing: "Amber, you will fly high for the rest of time.

"We will all miss you. Especially me. I love you ginger midget. GBFN (goodbye for now) X."
Following Gibson's conviction the former foster family of both siblings issued a statement saying life will "never be the same again" after Amber's tragic death.
"She kept us on our toes and had the most amazing outlook on life consider the suffering she had experienced," the statement read, describing the deceased teenager as "the most giving, loving, supportive and admirable person."
Another man was also jailed earlier this year for raping Amber just months before she was killed.
Jamie Starrs, 20, was handed a 10-and-a-half-year sentence for the assault on the tragic teen in June 2021 and the rape of a second teenager two weeks earlier.
Amber woke up to find Starrs lying naked beside her before reporting him to police.
Sentencing Starrs back in August, Judge Thomas Welsh KC said: "You have been convicted of appalling crimes against two innocent teenage girls and you have been assessed as being of very high risk of sexual violence on release.
"I am required to take into account your age and difficult upbringing โ however, the crimes remain serious and grave, and I will impose an extended sentence."
Stephen Corrigan, 45, was also found guilty of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and breach of the peace after he intimately touched and hid Amber's body after finding her remains at some point in the two days between her murder and the moment she was found, rather than contacting police.
He has been jailed for nine years.
