Broomfield shooting: One person dead, Denver police officer injured

A shooting at a busy intersection in Broomfield left one person dead and a Denver police officer injured.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon at Sheridan Boulevard and East Midway Boulevard, according to the Broomfield Police Department. The intersection has been closed to traffic, and there is a large police presence in the area.

A person has been pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The shooting involved the Denver Police Department Fugitive Unit, according to Broomfield police. An officer was taken to a local hospital with injuries.

Police say there is “no danger to the community” and that no Broomfield officers have been injured.

Police ask drivers to avoid the area if possible. There is currently no scheduled time for the intersection to reopen.
