Struggling stand-ups are using robots to help write their gags.
The obsession with bots is set to dominate performances at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe.
A string of performers at the month-long joke-fest starting Friday will be using the tech in their shows.
Among them, London-based comic Peter Bazely confessed he turned to bots after being “out of ideas”. He asked AI for help in creating a “relatable” show at the Laughing Horse venue. As a result he plans to play a straight man to computer comic AI Jesus.

Meanwhile, US comedian Stephen Brower has used coding to perfect a prototype of what he hopes will make the most acceptable sort of gay man for his show Palatable Gay Robot.
And Aussie Tom Ballard plans to include a joke by ChatGPT in his show.
