Boy, 12, suffers horror gang rape as four friends insert rod into his genitals

A group of men allegedly gang-raped a 12-year-old boy in a sickening attack that also saw them insert a rod into his genitals.

The horrifying incident reportedly took place in the Seelampur region of Delhi in India and resulted in the child being hospitalised and in a critical condition.

An account of the distressing incident was given to the Delhi Commission of Women by the mother of the boy, who claimed he had been brutally "sexually assaulted" by the four men, who have also been described as his friends.

Her statement also said that the gang beat her son with bricks and rods, according to local media reports.

The petrified child only opened up to his parents a few days after the alleged attack and they instantly informed the police.

He is still in a critical condition in hospital and detectives are now carrying out an investigation to determine what exactly happened.

In a post on Twitter, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal wrote: "In Delhi, not even boys are safe. A 12-year-old boy was brutally raped by four people and left in a half-dead condition after being beaten with sticks."

She went on to reveal that only one suspect had so far been arrested by the police, who are yet to trace the other three.

India is in the grip of a rape crisis with an average of 86 cases reported every day, according to recent data.

A mum and her six-year-old daughter were also gang-raped in a car after accepting a lift with a group of men from Piran Kaliyar, a holy site for Muslims and Hindus, on the banks of the Ganga Canal.

Another mother also chopped off her boyfriend's penis with a kitchen knife after she caught him trying to rape her 14-year-old daughter in the city of Lakhimpur, declaring that she wanted to "teach him a lesson".
