Blind dog with ‘raw’ neck after cruel life in chains looking for forever home

A blind dog who has suffered a lifetime of misery is looking for her forever home.

Annalize was found in a sorry state – pregnant, totally blind, with matted fur and red raw skin after being chained for a long time.

The 12-year-old Northern Inuit cross has struggled to find anyone willing to give her a permanent home. Fortunately, all of her puppies have been picked up and adopted soon after they were born.

The pooch arrived at Many Tears Animal Rescue near Llanelli, Wales after spending a lifetime on a chain.

Once rescued, they were forced to surgically remove one of her eyes, reports TeamDogs.

Annalize may need to have her other eye removed in the future. But for potential adopters, she still has lots of love to give, having undergone a total transformation while living with a foster carer in Pembrokeshire.

Her current carer said: “Beautiful Annalize has not found her forever adopted home yet, after so very long in foster.

"She first came here after having puppies, after being found to be pregnant when she came to rescue from a breeder.

“She had lived her life on a chain and her neck was red raw when we took her in. It took a long time to heal, but did heal well. Now she’s looking amazingly fluffy again!”

Annalize is looking to live with another resident dog in her new home – and adores cats too, so would love a feline brother or sister.

Her fosterer added: “She has to have someone around all the time really – as she has to know her humans are close or she gets very upset even when you are in bed!

"She currently sleeps in a room with the other dogs, but I'm in a room separated from hers with only a stair gate, so she knows I'm only feet away from her.

“Annalize is not totally house-trained after two years so we don't see that changing, she will be clean most of the time in the day as long as you let her out at regular intervals.

"She nearly always toilets inside at night though, so you would have to accept that if you were to adopt her.

“Annalize cannot be crated as she hates being restrained. She has to be able to walk around the house freely and if you close a door she will scratch at it, so this needs to be considered in lots of scenarios day-to-day and how you would manage this for her to be free.

“There is a lot to tell you about Annalize and she is a very big part of anyone's life in many many ways, she doesn't live with you – you live with her!”
