Billionaire selling UK’s most expensive penthouse for an eye-popping £175m
April 15, 2021
Britain's most expensive home has gone on sale for a whopping £175m.
Billionaire property tycoon Nick Candy, 48, wants to sell his luxury two-storey penthouse overlooking Harrods in London's Hyde Park.
The husband of former Neighbours star Holly Valance told Bloomberg News that he will consider offers in cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.
His pad boasts five bedrooms, a 21m swimming pool and is as big as almost 18 average homes in England combined at around 18,000 sq ft, the Sun reports.
The penthouse also includes a private spa and gym, two terraces, a private cinema, library, golf simulator, valet service with four car parking spaces, a champagne room, a wine room for 750 bottles, a media room and a cocktail bar.
In an email, Candy said offers in Bitcoin and Ethereum will be considered as cryptocurrencies are a "big opportunity".
Mr Candy said the apartment at One Hyde Park was "a world-class real estate asset in the heart of London that will continue to perform as a solid investment for years to come".
One Hyde Park was developed by CPC Group – owned by Mr Candy's brother Christian – together with a firm owned by former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani.
The complex includes three retail units Rolex, McLaren Automotive and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and even has its own Wikipedia page stating it has 86 residential properties marketed with prices starting at around £20million.

Estate agents Savills and Knight Frank are helping sell Mr Candy's home which was valued by Credit Suisse to be worth £160 million in 2018.
He took out an £80 million mortgage on the property with Credit Suisse that year in what was believed to be the largest loan advanced on a British property.
The duplex apartment was rented out for £500,000 a month.

A source reportedly said Mr Candy decided to list the apartment after receiving recent offers from buyers in the United States, Hong Kong and China.
Candy, who has two daughters with Holly, reportedly made billions with his brother Christian by selling homes to the super-rich.
Last year Christian Candy sold his mansion overlooking Regent's Park for about £105 million.
The two brothers grew up in Epsom, Surrey.

Nick Candy has said: "London was the No 1 city on the planet. Things in life are about timing. One Hyde Park was perfect timing, perfect place, perfect product and perfect client list that wanted to buy it."
Architect at the company behind One Hyde Park's design, Graham Stirk, said: "The roots of the development go back to 2004 when Bowater House, an unimpressive 1950s office block, came up for sale.
"They came to us and said they wanted to create the best residential building in the world."
