French police have evacuated the area around the Arc de Triomphe in Paris following a bomb threat near the iconic landmark.

Police were reportedly deployed to the western end of the Champs-Élysées in central Paris at around 3pm and cordoned off the area around the landmark.

It is understood the Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile metro station has also been closed in response to the threat.

Social media posts suggest traffic is being diverted around the busy road, with a wide cordon given to motorists.
