Boris Johnson will come under fire from Sir Keir today for the first time since Labour steamed ahead in the polls. The opposition has taken a nine-point lead over the Conservatives, their largest since February 2014, according to the latest Opinium poll which placed Labour on 41 percent and the Tories on 32 percent. The Conservative’s plunging popularity comes after a tough few weeks which has seen the party rocked by successive allegations of scandals, sleaze, and lockdown violations. The reversing of fortunes also comes as the Prime Minister reintroduces restrictions on public life to battle the rampant spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.


Boris Johnson is ‘too weak to lead’ warns Starmer

Boris Johnson is “too weak to lead” and is putting the public at risk, according to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer. 

He said: “The public is safer thanks to Labour putting people’s health before party politics.

“The Prime Minister needs to take a long, hard look at himself and ask whether he has the authority to take this country through the pandemic.”

His criticism comes after weeks of allegations of scandals, sleaze and rule breaking.
