The recently appointed Brexit Opportunities Minister said he was inundated with recommendations after asking Britons which retained EU regulations should be abolished. Many mocked Mr Rees-Mogg upon the creation of the role, with Brendan O’Hara, SNP Cabinet Office spokesperson, joking he had been made “Secretary of State for Fantasy Island”. But the Tory MP has hit back, noting he has received 1,800 Brexit recommendations from readers of the Sun alone, “and I believe that the British people have an enormous amount of wisdom which politicians… could benefit from”.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has celebrated receiving hundreds of recommendations for taking advantage of Brexit.
SNP Cabinet Office spokesperson Brendan O’Hara quipped yesterday, on Thursday, the new Brexit Opportunities Minister could instead be titled “Secretary of State for Fantasy Island”.
But Mr Rees-Mogg showed this was not the case by noting the great amount of recommendations he has received for removing retained EU red tape – from readers of the Sun alone.
He said: “I have received 1,800 recommendations from the wise readers of The Sun and I believe that the British people have an enormous amount of wisdom which politicians, particularly ones in Scotland, could benefit from.”
