Hassanity in South Beach

It has been a long journey for Hassan Whiteside.

After his one year at Marshall University, Whiteside was drafted in 2010 by the Sacramento Kings. However, everything went down after he underwent a surgery to repair the torn tendon in his left knee in 2011. D-League, China, Lebanon, China, and back to D-League. 2012 NBA D-League Showcase

Finally, in 2014, he is once again back to the stage he has always longed for staying at. This time, he didn’t let the opportunity slip.

On January 4th, 2014, Whiteside recorded his first NBA career double- double in the game against The Brooklyn Nets with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

On January 11th, 2014, Whiteside put on a show with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the W against The Los Angeles Clippers.

On January 25th, 2014, Whiteside got his first NBA career triple-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 blocks against one of the top eastern conference seed, The Chicago Bulls.

Just like Linsanity to the New York Knicks, Hassan Whiteside was the savior to The Miami Heat that have been desperately looking for a center that can lock down boards. If you ask me whether Whiteside will continue his high performance, I will most likely say yes.

In his 31 games played in the 14-15 season, Whiteside is averaging 10.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.4 blocks in only 21.6 minutes. He takes down 3 offensive rebounds per game and has a 63.2 field goal shooting percentage. In the 16 games he started, he averaged 13.4 points, 12.5 rebounds, grabbing 4.3 offensive rebounds per game. He has shown consistency in his game and has played with high EQ. Whiteside has not fouled out from any of his games this season yet.

It has been a long journey for Hassan Whiteside, but everything seems to have paid off. Nothing for the Heat fans to worry yet as Whiteside has another year of contract with the team. With the increasing playing time and media attention, Whiteside will continue to strive in the South Beach.
