10 Highly Anticipated Matchups This Upcoming Season For The Heat

Miami Herald

Doesn’t it seem like just the other day when Stephen Curry and the rest of the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors were hoisting the trophy following their NBA Finals win over the Cleveland Cavaliers? For me at least, it does. Yet, the summer has quickly flown by and we are approaching another NBA Season once again.

Miami Heat fans are extremely excited to get this season started after a disappointing season last year where they were plagued by injuries and were unable to make the playoffs because of that fact. Now, the Heat have a regained health along with some new additions to their already deep roster. How they will fare against the revamped Eastern Conference is still unknown, but they should be right up there with the likes of the Cavaliers and Hawks in fighting for that number 1 seed in the East.

Wednesday, the NBA released the schedule for all 30 teams on NBATV at 6 pm EST. Let’s take a look at some of the 10 most anticipated matchups for the Miami Heat this upcoming season, starting with number 10.

10. Charlotte Hornets @ Miami Heat (October 28th)

Well, this first one is a bit obvious. It’s the first game of the season and a home game at that. Also, we get our first taste of Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Chris Bosh, and Hassan Whiteside all on the floor together at the same time. It will be interesting to see how often Spoelstra wants to play Bosh and Wade with such skilled bench players behind them that can remove some of the load off their shoulders.

For the Hornets, it will be interesting to see how Spencer Hawes and Nicholas Batum, two of the most coveted additions for them this offseason, will be able to fare in the new system.

One interesting thing to watch in this game is how Justise Winslow plays compared to Frank Kaminsky. Remember, the Hornets were the team to pass on Winslow with the 9th pick in the NBA Draft to allow Miami to secure him. Wouldn’t that be spectacular to see Justise stick it to them?
